Hey there! I’m Samantha Etzel—Sam, if you prefer to keep things casual (which I do). I’m a qualified and registered Dance Teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) and a certified Personal Trainer (IIFT). In other words, I spend a lot of time convincing people that exercise can actually be fun.
My love for health, wellness, and all things movement led me to open this studio in February 2024. Thanks to the amazing local community (that’s you!), I’ve been able to create a space where fitness meets joy, and where “I can’t” turns into “I did!”
With over 15 years in the industry—and my fair share of personal health and fitness ups and downs—I know that wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about finding a way to move that feels good for you. My goal? To help you see your wellbeing through fresh eyes and unlock the endless possibilities that come with it.
On the dance side of things, young girls get to explore self-expression, discipline, and confidence through movement. Whether it’s social dance, exam preparation, or stepping onto a stage for a performance, there’s a space for every aspiring dancer here.
And for the women out there—young, wise, and everywhere in between—Pokeno BARRE Fitness is about empowerment. It’s about pushing limits, finding strength (yes, even in your legs after barre class!), and gaining skills that last a lifetime.
I’d love to meet you in person and answer all your questions (including, "Will I survive my first class?"). I’m hosting a free information session on April 9, 2025, where you can learn more, have a chat, and enjoy some refreshments (because balance is key!).

So, take that first step. Come to the info session, ask me anything (complaints accepted in the form of interpretive dance), and let’s make movement something you actually look forward to.
Click on the schedule tab in the purple ribbon, pick your class, grab your pass or membership, and come experience fitness in a way that feels fresh, fun, and totally doable.
Yours in sweat, smiles & sore-but-happy muscles,
Sam
